Remembering the Writing Journey…
Children come when they know you’re available.
Children come when they know you’re approachable.
Children don’t only come for answers, a fixing, and the best possible solution. (Although those things are part of playing the role as caregivers).
But they simply will come—when you’re available and approachable.
This directly points to the nature of Jesus. Jesus, the man who spoke the profound words, “COME TO ME.”
We come because We know that He is available…
We know, and we are confident that we don’t have to wait for Him to finish His task to meet us. Any moment in time, any physical, mental, or emotional state—we know we can come.
And this way of being and walking can take root in our own daily life of giving care. We too, like Jesus can live in a way which those we care for feel safe & welcomed to come. To come in their brokenness, to come without it all figured out, to come needy, to come weary, burdened, tired, angry, questioning, & looking.
And it’s just in the act of COMING to Jesus that souls are settled. That fear is literally disarmed. Capacity is given. Hope is restored. Peace comes. Rest is received. And that same power of the Spirit of Jesus—breathed onto those who seek Him—can be applied daily. We can walk in likeness of Christ. We can give this kind of care. We can become available—aware, mindful, and fully present to embody and portray the Message, being Christ Himself, who says: “Come to Me.”
It’s not by power. It’s not by might. It’s not through striving. It’s not by performance or perfection. It is by the POWER of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit which transforms minds, restores hearts, and rewrites hopeless stories into Hope-filled destinies. This is the promise. This is the inheritance. This is the call to the caregiver.
